Short Term Housing
To ease the temporary transition of visiting and newly hired faculty members to Western and London, Housing Services and the Office of Faculty Recruitment and Retention (OFRR) have partnered to offer options for short-term University Housing. Two 2-bedroom apartments located in Platt’s Lane have been updated and furnished to provide faculty members who are looking for temporary housing with short term options that are convenient, comfortable and cost effective.
Eligibility for these units is limited to newly hired full-time academic staff (faculty members, librarians and archivists, and academic visitors who have been invited to Western from other academic institutions to teach or conduct research).
All reservation requests for the short-term rental apartments must be made through the reservation office. Reservations and stay extensions will be made on a first come-first serve basis. Due to this policy, occupancy extensions may not be possible if new renters have secured the unit for the upcoming month.
Platt’s Lane is a complex of apartments and townhomes that provide convenient, comfortable family accommodations. All units are equipped with fridge, stove, bed and major furnishings.
Laundry facilities are located on-site. Excluded from the units are cleaning service, consumable supplies, and electronics.
Platt’s Lane is located off of Western Road, approximately a 10 minute walk to the centre of campus and proximate to shopping, daycare and schools.
Length of Stay
Two 2 bedroom apartments are available for short-term rental. Typical Stays vary from one month to six month terms.
Rent, Costs and Payment Terms
The rental rate for 2016 is $1050, excluding phone and Internet, which must be arranged independently by the tenant.
Rent may be paid through online banking, bank draft, money order, or certified cheque made payable to The University of Western Ontario.
