Staff Experience

Staff Passport

Western is focused on becoming a global leader in international education. As part of this international strategy the Staff International Engagement Working Group (SIE) is developing opportunities for Western staff to participate and lead initiatives that reach beyond our campus.

To encourage global awareness and impact, Western’s staff international engagement group is establishing partnerships with several leading development organizations. We invite you investigate how to become involved and share your talents aimed at benefiting society and increasing our collective global awareness.

As new international opportunities are developed for staff engagement they will be posted on this website.

Join SIE

Consider getting involved by volunteering on the SIE Working Group or Ambassador Sub Committee.  There is an email sent out to staff in December of every year to request expression of interest if you would like to join the SIE committeee.

SIE Working Group

In addition to the one-hour monthly meetings, SIE members are expected to participate in an SIE sub committee. This may involve reviewing applications and interviewing staff members for the Leave for Change or Western Staff International Exchange Program, or representing SIE at various campus events such as International Week and Staff Conference Week.

Ambassador Sub-Committee

The Ambassador Sub Committee also meets monthly to explore and offer broader opportunities for staff to develop as global citizens, such as the Internationally-themed lunches. Ambassadors are also expected to participate in spreading the word about various SIE initiatives to their colleagues.
