Welcome to Western Legal Counsel Services

The Office of Legal Counsel oversees all legal matters at Western University, offering guidance on a wide range of issues from academic policy and governance to research, property, and commercial affairs.

The Office has the overall responsibility for managing the legal affairs of the University, relating to its mission, activities and obligations, and providing legal advice on a wide variety of matters including (but not limited to) academic policy, student related activities, governance, insurance and risk management, commercial and intellectual property matters, research and research misconduct, estates, trusts and fundraising, construction and property matters, and business and commercial matters.

The Office includes four Legal Counsel and two Legal Assistants.
