Description:

HSFC is offering Novel and Exploratory Research Funds (NERF) to investigators conducting high risk research that has the potential for momentous impacts for heart disease and stroke. Each year, the two (2) highest rated HSF recipients from each HSFC Scientific Review Subcommittee are invited to apply to the competition. Individuals will be contacted directly by HSFC and invited to submit an application to the Novel and Exploratory Research Fund competition.

The research may involve research disciplines outside the health sector (e.g. physics, engineering, mathematics, etc.) with evident and clear justification in the application that the research is relevant to the mission of HSF.

Application Details:

Project concepts should be "out-of-the-box" and different from what researchers are already doing or publishing in literature and may involve collaborations outside the health field. HSFC reserves the right to decline late or incomplete applications.

Applicants must hold an HSF Grant-in-Aid and/or HSFC Personnel Award from the 2009-2010 competition.

INDIRECT COSTS ARE NOT SUPPORTED BY THIS PROGRAM

NOTE: Letters of Intent and Full Applications are to be processed through Research Development Services for institutional signatures, and are to be accompanied by a completed RDAF form (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean signatures). Requests for Institutional signatures should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline.
