Description:

Community Based Research (CBR) Grants support collaborative teams to undertake Community Based Research that utilizes participatory research methods to address the determinants of health and recommend strategies for policy, practice and system change across the breast cancer continuum.

For the fall 2009, grant call, there are two Community Based Research (CBR) grant types available: Implementation Grants are intended to support projects that address social, environmental, and behavioural factors through recommendations for policy and practice changes across the breast cancer continuum. Partnership, Planning, and Development Grants are intended to support and strengthen research capacity, partnership development, and to identify and develop the skills needed to successfully implement a Community Based Research project.

Application Details:

The Foundation is interested in funding CBR projects on a range of topics across a broad range of fields, including but not limited to: Environmental science, Epidemiology, Education, Health policy, Health services, Public health, Psychology and Sociology. Eligible teams must include individuals representing: a community partner*; and, a researcher (s)**; and, a hospital, post secondary institution or affiliated research institute, public health unit, Cancer Care Ontario, Regional Cancer Centre or Program, or Ontario Breast Screening program site.

Note: If you registered in the system last year, you will already have a user name and you do not need to complete this process again. Ensure that you familiarize yourself with the appropriate user manual before completing your application online.

INDIRECT COSTS OF 15% MUST BE INCLUDED IN THE PROJECT BUDGET

NOTE: Letters of Intent and Full Applications are to be processed through Research Development Services for institutional signatures, and are to be accompanied by a completed RDAF form (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean signatures). Requests for Institutional signatures should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline.
