Description:

The purpose of the grants is to build upon and accelerate the transfer of weather, climate and associated knowledge, generated with support from CFCAS, to policy makers and knowledge end-users, in order to promote its uptake and use.

Applicants can only submit one request per Grant category and the proposal must be submitted by the university scientist who will administer the grant. All work must be completed within a 10 month time frame (starting in January 2010 and finishing no later than December 2010). The grants are not for research, but to translate, integrate and synthesize existing scientific outputs into a form readily useable by policy and decision makers. Requests for support to conduct new, or enhance existing, scientific research activities will be rejected.

Application Details:

CFCAS invites proposals for grants of up to 10 months duration in three areas: 1) Knowledge Synthesis; 2) Outreach and Communication of CFCAS research results; and 3) Public Lectures. Eligibility for Outreach grants is restricted to individuals who are, or have been, either principal or co-investigators on CFCAS project or network grants.

Use CFCAS forms 101 (Application) and 100 (Personal Data). Submit one original with applicant and university signatures, and 2 copies by October 7, 2009. The forms can be printed from the CFCAS web site www.cfcas.org `Applications to CFCAS?. The site also contains instructions to applicants. The Foundation does not accept electronic submissions.

INDIRECT COSTS ARE NOT SUPPORTED BY THIS PROGRAM.

NOTE: Letters of Intent and Full Applications are to be processed through Research Development Services for institutional signatures, and are to be accompanied by a completed RDAF form (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean signatures). Requests for Institutional signatures should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline.
