Description:

ArcticNet is a Network of Centres of Excellence of Canada (NCE) that brings together scientists and managers in the natural, human health and social sciences with their partners in Inuit organizations, northern communities, federal and provincial government agencies, and the private sector to study the impacts of environmental change and modernization in the coastal Canadian Arctic. Over 110 ArcticNet Network Investigators and 400 graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, research associates and technicians from 28 Canadian universities and 8 Federal departments collaborate on 30 research projects with research teams in Canada and fifteen foreign countries. Research projects must be relevant to ArcticNet?s mandate, objectives and research program, and must meet the criteria established by ArcticNet and the Networks of Centres of Excellence Program as stated in the ArcticNet Research Project Review Guidelines.

ArcticNet is seeking research proposals in the social and human health sciences for funding of projects to begin on 01 April 2010 and to be completed by 31 March 2011 (end of current ArcticNet Phase 2 funding cycle). Conditional on the renewal of the Network in late 2010, successful projects could be extended into Phase 3 (2011-2015) of ArcticNet.

Application Details:

The current call for proposals is open to all eligible Arctic researchers in Canada (see eligibility criteria below). New applicants and collaborators not previously engaged in ArcticNet are encouraged to apply. In addition to conducting excellent research, successful projects are expected to contribute to ArcticNet?s Integrated Regional Impact Study framework and Regional Assessments, and to focus on the application of acquired knowledge to the formulation of projections and the identification of vulnerabilities toward the development of policies and adaptation strategies. Priority will be given to projects undertaken in the context of a multidisciplinary research team with appropriate partners. Researchers are encouraged to apply as a group working on a specific theme. ArcticNet does not support projects conducted by individual researchers or labs.

Please E-mail an electronic version (Word or .pdf) of your completed application form, CVs and letters of support to arcticnet@arcticnet.ulaval.ca before Monday, 18 January 2010 at 17:00 ET.
