Description:

Grants are awarded at two levels: $25K for one year and up to $80K for 2 years. Each application is evaluated on scientific merit, relevance of research on the control of the epidemic or benefit to patients with AIDS, innovation to Canada and globally. Persons eligible for a grant must be Canadian citizens or have Landed Immigrant status, reside in Canada, and the major component of their research must be carried out in or directed from a Canadian site which is a not-for-profit institution or organization such as a hospital, institute or university (sponsoring institution).

Funding is set aside for the development and evaluation of education programs, and for research on ethical and other applications of measures that might be proposed for the protection of public health.

Application Details:

Research grants are awarded in the basic sciences, clinical, epidemiological and psycho-social areas related to: fundamental and applied research; education and prevention; psycho-social; community research and care

Funds augment/complement new & existing research programs, funding to sustain or complete ongoing efforts or used as seed funding. Applications (either for $25k or the $80K) may only be made using the CANFAR application form found on their website. A ?CANFAR APPLICATION FORM? must be used when submitting a grant request and seven (7) copies must be submitted. One (1) copy of the application must bear the original signature of an official authorized to sign for the applicant institution. The twelve (12) copies and a pdf. copy must be submitted with this original application. All applicants should be familiar with the CANFAR ?Policies Governing the Award of Grants?.

INDIRECT COSTS ARE NOT SUPPORTED BY THIS PROGRAM

NOTE: Letters of Intent and Full Applications are to be processed through Research Development Services for institutional signatures, and are to be accompanied by a completed RDAF form (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean signatures). Requests for Institutional signatures should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline.
