Description:

The Cancer Research Society supports new or continuing research activities by independent investigators in the broad field of cancer. Fellowship awardees must spend at least 80% of their time in research. During tenure of an award, fellowship awardees are not permitted to receive remuneration for any other work or hold a second major scholarship. They may, with the approval of their supervisor, engage in and accept remuneration for limited departmental activities which contribute to their development as independent researchers, limited so that the stipends received do not exceed 25% of the amount of their fellowship award. All fellowship applicants must ensure that recent official transcripts are sent directly to the CRS by the appropriate University authorities.

Taking into account that February 15th is Ontario's Family Day, the deadline date for receipt of these applications has been changed to February 16, 2010. Research funds cannot be used for equipment or travel. All applicants must be registered at a Canadian university. Fellowship awardees must spend at least 80% of their time in research. During tenure of the award, awardees are not permitted to receive renumeration for any other work or hold a second major scholarship. Please read the Sponsor guidelines carefully for detail instructions.

Application Details:

Fellowships are offered to candidates holding a Ph.D., or a professional degree (M.D., D.M.V., etc.) and undertaking research training in a laboratory recognised by the Society. The Society awards fellowships only during the first three years following the award of a doctorate degree. Candidates wishing to undertake post-Ph.D training in the same department in which they received their doctorate degree may be disqualified for the award.

*Please note that it is mandatory to use the 2010 application form. Forms from previous years will be rejected.* Canadidates must ensure that three reference letters are included in the application. Two (2) electronic copies saved on two (2) CDs (1 copy/CD) must be included with your application mailed in to the CRS by February 15th, 2010. The title of your electronic copy should be the following: ?Your Complete Name ? 2010 Fellowship? (for example, ?John J. Smith?2010 Fellowship?). This title should also appear on both CDs. Three (3) paper copies must also be included in your application sent to our offices by mail at the latest by February 15th, 2010. Details are available on the program guidelines

INDIRECT COSTS ARE NOT SUPPORTED BY THIS PROGRAM.

NOTE: Letters of Intent and Full Applications are to be processed through Research Development Services for institutional signatures, and are to be accompanied by a completed RDAF form (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean signatures). Requests for Institutional signatures should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline.
