Description:

The broad purpose of this program is to support workshops and conferences held in Canada. The program?s specific objectives are to: advance research and scholarship on issues of intellectual, cultural and social importance by facilitating direct interaction among researchers and students, both from Canada and abroad; promote research linkages among disciplines and across institutions, sectors, linguistic groups and regions; and enhance the visibility and profile of social sciences and humanities research. The applicant must: be a researcher or postdoctoral fellow; be a member of the workshop or conference?s organizing committee.

The funding supports workshops and conferences held in Canada that will facilitate the transfer of research results within and between disciplines and among Canadian and international researchers. There are two distinct applications forms: one for conferences and one for workshops. Proposals that submit the incorrect form will be deemed ineligible.

Application Details:

Grants are available to help defray the costs of organizing workshops and conferences. Please consult the definitions for the meaning of the terms workshop, conference and workshop participant. Eligible expenses have been updated to harmonize with the Tri-Agency Financial Administration Guide and are detailed in the application instructions. For successful applicants, the actual amount awarded depends on the merit of the application, the demonstrated financial need and the appropriateness of the proposed budget. Grant amounts are also subject to the recommendations of the adjudication committee and the Council's available funding.

Grants are available to help defray the costs of organizing workshops and conferences. Eligible expenses include administrative costs, travel and subsistence fees (but not honoraria), and the publication of workshop and conference proceedings. Applications must be submitted using SSHRC's online system.

INDIRECT COSTS ARE NOT SUPPORTED BY THIS PROGRAM

NOTE: Letters of Intent and Full Applications are to be processed through Research Development Services for institutional signatures, and are to be accompanied by a completed RDAF form (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean signatures). Requests for Institutional signatures should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline.
