Description:

This program provides a salary for postdoctoral fellows to work on a research project with clear relevance to arthritis under supervision of a member of CAN. A candidate must hold either a PhD or a health professional degree (or equivalent) in a field such as medicine, dentistry or veterinary medicine. Trainees enrolled in programs oriented toward professional specialty training are ineligible.

Training awards for postdoctoral fellows are available only to those who are engaged in arthritis research and development under the supervision of a CAN investigator.

Application Details:

Applications are made by the proposed supervisor, who must be a CAN member, and not by the student. The training program must include actual involvement in research, and not only courses in research methods. Students enrolled in programs oriented toward clinical training are eligible for these awards.

All awards to postdoctoral fellows require matching funds. Although matching funds from NCE eligible partners (industry, institutions, provincial agencies) are preferred, CAN will accept matching funds from operating grants (CIHR, NSERC, SSHRC, etc.). NOTE: Letters of Intent and Full Applications are to be processed through Research Development Services for institutional signatures, and are to be accompanied by a completed RDAF form (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean signatures). Requests for Institutional signatures should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline.
