Internal: Nov 12, 2010
Sponsor's: Nov 19, 2010

Subject Areas: Alzheimer Disease And Related Dementia, Cognitive Dysfunction, Alzheimer's Disease, Brain And Behavior, Molecular Genetics, Brain Disorders, Quality Of Life, Caregiving, Behavioural Research
Description:

Applications should focus on challenging new directions in research into Alzheimer's and related dementias or come from fields not usually associated with Alzheimer's research.

The most favoured applications in this category of awards are those which (a) focus on challenging new directions in research into Alzheimer's disease and related dementias, directions that are less likely to be funded by national funding agencies, perhaps because of insufficient preliminary data or the unorthodoxy of the research rationale or approach, and/or (b) are submitted by established researchers in fields not usually associated with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias research, who are proposing to apply their special approaches and techniques to novel projects clearly relevant to Alzheimer's disease and related dementias.

Application Details:

The ASRP focuses on two research streams: Quality of Life Stream: $60K/year for two years | Biomedical Stream: $75K/year for two years. They reserve the right to allocate an application to the appropriate review panel. Principal investigators must hold a position at least equivalent to the rank of Assistant Professor. Adjunct professors at or above the level of Assistant Professor are eligible to apply.

Applications in all the ASRP funding categories must be submitted online through ASC?s ReviewRoom portal (http://asc.myreviewroom.ca) by 5:00 p.m. (EST) on November 19, 2010. Any additional documents that are to be sent to ASC under separate cover (e.g., letters of recommendation, university transcripts), must be submitted (postmarked or courier dated) by November 19, 2010 to ASC. We recommend the applicant send these additional materials with a service that provides proof of delivery.

INDIRECT COSTS MUST NOT BE LEVIED ON THIS PROGRAM

NOTE: Letters of Intent and Full Applications are to be processed through Research Development Services for institutional signatures, and are to be accompanied by a completed RDAF form (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean signatures). Requests for Institutional signatures should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline.
