Description:

The 2011-2015 SFD program comprises the following 3 components: Component 1: Internships for Canadian students and public engagement activities. Component 2: Pilot internships for developing country students and public engagement activities. Component 3: Pilot student networking for development initiatives. Projects must be undertaken with partner organizations in one or more of the following 26 eligible countries: Bangladesh, Barbados, Bolivia, Brazil, China, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guyana, Honduras, India, Kenya, Malawi, Mali, Peru, Philippines, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Ukraine, Vietnam and Zambia. Projects must be aligned with the SFD program objectives.

Application Details:

AUCC member universities may submit no more than one project proposal to the competition. The proposal must be submitted to AUCC via the university's International Liaison Officer (ILO). Projects must be designed and monitored in consultation with the overseas partner organization(s). It is anticipated that projects may commence as early as May 1, 2011 (subject to the signing of a Memorandum of Grant Conditions between AUCC and the Canadian university). All project activities must be competed by December 31, 2014. Projects must contribute to CIDA's mandate (poverty reduction) and address at least one of CIDA's three priority themes: Increasing Food Security, Securing the future of children & youth, Sustainable economic growth.

The deadline for the submission of proposals is 4:00 p.m. EST on Tuesday, March 1, 2011. An electronic copy of the proposal (complete with signatures) must be sent to Chalanne Matheson at cmatheson@aucc.ca. The electronic application must be submitted as a single file, preferably in PDF format (multiple files and attachments will not be accepted). If the electronic file is larger than 25MB, please send via www.transferbigfiles.com. Please do not send hard copies of the application to AUCC.

INDIRECT COSTS ARE NOT APPLIED TO THIS PROGRAM.

NOTE: Letters of Intent and Full Applications are to be processed through Research Development Services for institutional signatures, and are to be accompanied by a completed RDAF form (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean signatures). Requests for Institutional signatures should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline.
