Description: |
The Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC) has signed a $2 million agreement with CIDA for a partnership with the Association of African Universities (AAU). AAU will work in partnership with AUCC to strengthen its ability to support its member universities? external stakeholder relations and to strengthen its own external stakeholder relations. Both African and Canadian partner institutions are required to make a contribution of additional personnel time beyond the amounts funded by the CIDA contribution. Letters of Intent require that Canadian and African institutional authorities sign and attest to their support for the Letter of Intent, including the required in-kind contributions. |

Application Details: |
The Canadian universities will accompany their African counterparts in the development or updating of their strategic plans, including implementation strategies. Strategic plans will be developed and/or revised with a focus on relations with external stakeholders such as government, the private sector and/or community. The plans produced by these partnerships will be considered draft plans that the African partner institutions can propose to their boards or institutional decision-making bodies for consideration. The Letter of Intent form, along with the required signature pages from the African and Canadian institutions, as well as the current strategic plan for the African institution, must be completed and submitted by email simultaneously to AAU at research@aau.org and to AUCC at rlalonde@aucc.ca by no later than 4 p.m. (UTC) for Africans and 12 p.m. noon (EDT) for Canadians on Monday, August 16, 2010.INDIRECT COSTS ARE NOT LEVIED ON THIS PROGRAM |

NOTE: Letters of Intent and Full Applications are to be processed through Research Development Services for institutional signatures, and are to be accompanied by a completed RDAF form (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean signatures). Requests for Institutional signatures should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. |
