The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation is pleased to announce the launch of a new National Research Grant Competition on the Earlier Detection of Breast Cancer. Molecular detection and the use of biomarkers, new targeted probes, and new imaging modalities are just a few of the technological areas that research suggests could be promising avenues to enable earlier detection of breast cancer. More research is needed on how to apply and interpret new technologies to improve accuracy and the precision of diagnosis. The competition is an open call for project proposals for research that will focus on at least one of the following three sub-priority areas: Advancing technology that has strategic potential to enable the first detection of breast cancer at its earliest stages (primary malignant transformation); Using or screening existing sample or population resources that are relevant to the discovery and/or validation of markers; or Understanding the psychosocial ramifications of introducing new early detection technology into practice and the implications for technology adoption strategies. |

Application Details: |
The Principle Investigator/Primary Applicant for each application must submit a registration form, on or before the deadline, in order for their application to be considered. **Follow the registration instructions within the 2011 National Grants Application Manual to complete and submit the Registration form before the deadline of October 21st, 2011 at 9:00 pm EDT. **
Registrants that are invited to apply must complete and submit an Application Form and all the requisite ancillary materials electronically using the forms provided on the CBCF website at: http://www.cbcf.org/en-US/CBCF%20in%20Action/Research/EarlierDetectionCall.aspx .
Applications must be finalized and submitted by 9:00pm EST on Wednesday November 16, 2011. Applications must be submitted in English.INDIRECT COSTS ARE NOT ELIGIBLE |

NOTE: All Letters of Intent and Full Applications must be processed through Research Development & Services for institutional approval. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. A ROLA Proposal (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean electronic approvals) is required for each submission. |
