Description:

Cystic Fibrosis Canada Scholarships provide salary support to a limited number of exceptional investigators, who have made outstanding contributions to, and have demonstrated leadership in, cystic fibrosis research. This award offers new investigators an opportunity to develop outstanding cystic fibrosis research programs, unhampered by heavy teaching or clinical loads.

The award will be for a three-year period, renewable for an additional two years on receipt of a satisfactory progress report during the third year of the award. In no case will an award be for more than five years.

Application Details:

A new investigator is defined as a researcher who has received his/her first full-time faculty appointment for a period of 0 to 60 months at the time of applying. At the time of application, candidates must: hold an M.D. or Ph.D. degree; not be registered for a higher degree during the tenure of the award; be within five years of, or have a formal documented commitment to, their first academic appointment at the time of application and throughout the term of the award (an appointment which allows an individual to apply for research grants as an independent investigator); exhibit exceptional potential, and demonstrate the ability to initiate and conduct independent research; and hold a Cystic Fibrosis Canada research grant in conjunction with the Scholarship.

Applications must be received by Cystic Fibrosis Canada no later than October 1 of odd-numbered years (i.e. 2011). Incomplete and/or late applications will be returned to the applicant.

INDIRECT COSTS ARE NOT LEVIED ON THIS PROGRAM

NOTE: All Letters of Intent and Full Applications must be processed through Research Development & Services for institutional approval. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. A ROLA Proposal (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean electronic approvals) is required for each submission.
