Description:

SSHRC actively supports connecting, disseminating, exchanging and co-creating knowledge to meet the needs of society. The aim is to ensure that people who stand to benefit from research results (e.g., policy-makers, business leaders, community leaders, educators, and members of the media, as well as academics in various fields) have the knowledge they need, when they need it, in useful forms.

Funding is available for knowledge mobilization events in the open category or any of SSHRC's priority areas. The Public Outreach Grants: Workshops and Conferences funding opportunity supports knowledge mobilization events directed primarily to non-academic audiences. This includes: Workshops, Conferences, Innovation Forums and Summer Institutes. Applicants are encouraged to describe how the proposed knowledge mobilization activities are expected to increase the capacity of selected audiences to understand and use research results.

Application Details:

Public Outreach Grants are designed to mobilize and/or leverage existing and ongoing research in the social sciences and humanities for a range of audiences beyond academia. Through this funding opportunity, SSHRC encourages researchers to find effective ways to disseminate, transfer, exchange, synthesize and broker research results to wider audiences. The Public Outreach Grants: Workshops and Conferences funding opportunity supports knowledge mobilization events directed primarily to non-academic audiences. Public Outreach Grants are not intended to support traditional means of dissemination to the research community (such as academic conferences).

If a proposed activity is not listed in the guidelines, applicants should consult the program officer to ensure that they are eligible for this funding opportunity. Review the application instructions by selecting "Instructions" from the "Apply" column in the grid atop the description on the SSHRC website. According to your instructions, click on the appropriate application forms, also found in the "Apply" section of the same grid. Carefully review your application as you fill it out, and ensure that you have provided any additional information requested in the appropriate formats, and contacted any required resources as outlined in your instructions.

INDIRECT COSTS ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THIS PROGRAM.

NOTE: All Letters of Intent and Full Applications must be processed through Research Development & Services for institutional approval. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. A ROLA Proposal (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean electronic approvals) is required for each submission.
