Description: |
The purpose of the New Directions Research Program is to stimulate the sustainable growth and competitiveness of Ontario's agri-food sector through investment in innovative and high quality research in partnership with industry, rural communities/organizations, other levels of government and research institutions. Applicants to the New Directions Research Program first submit a Letter of Intent, outlining their proposed research. Review Panels evaluate the Letters of Intent and OMAFRA projects that most closely align with program priorities are invited to submit a full proposal. This invitation to submit a full proposal does not guarantee funding. |

Application Details: |
A Call for Proposals is issued on an annual basis. The application procedure involves a two stage process which includes submission of a letter of intent followed by a full proposal. Researchers must apply to this program on-line using the Research Management System (RMS), the Ministry's new e-grant method for managing its research programs. Letter of intent must be submitted to OMAFRA by 4:00 pm ESTINDIRECT COSTS OF 40% MUST BE INCLUDED IN THE PROJECT BUDGET |

NOTE: All Letters of Intent and Full Applications must be processed through Research Development & Services for institutional approval. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. A ROLA Proposal (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean electronic approvals) is required for each submission. |
