Description:

Provides support for investigators during the critical period between the initiation of research and the receipt of sustained funding. This award is for scientists at the associate professor level or equivalent, who are clearly independent.

The program is intended to facilitate innovative research opportunities and supports basic and/or clinical investigators, however, research must be relevant to our understanding, treatment and prevention of serious psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, or child and adolescent psychiatric disorders.

Application Details:

Basic and/or clinical investigators are supported, but research must be relevant to schizophrenia, major affective disorders, or other serious mental illnesses. The program is intended to facilitate innovative research opportunities.

Applicants must have a doctoral-level degree (M.D., Ph.D., etc.), be an associate or assistant professor (or equivalent), and have received, as P.I., competitive research support at a national level such as NIH, NSF, or foundation support. An assistant professor who is P.I. on a NIH R01 grant is eligible for the Independent Investigator grant. Please review sponsor website for all submission requirements

INDIRECT COSTS OF 8% MUST BE INCLUDED IN THE BUDGET

NOTE: All Letters of Intent and Full Applications must be processed through Research Development & Services for institutional approval. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. A ROLA Proposal (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean electronic approvals) is required for each submission.
