Description: |
The Best in Science program was designed to mobilize the knowledge and resources of scientists to undertake research in the ministry's priority areas, addressing gaps in our knowledge, enhancing our scientific expertise and capacity, and encouraging the formation of research partnerships. Applicants' research must address at least one of these priority areas: Air Zone Management, Mobile Sources Transportation; Local Air Quality and Climate Change, Greenhouse Gas Reduction, Great Lakes, Drinking Water, Surtace Water, Beaches, Ring of Fire, Protection of Surtace and Ground Water Resources |

Application Details: |
The program uses a two-stage application and selection process.
Stage 1: Submission of Letter of Intent application form:
Stage One involves the submission of a Letter of Intent application form in which applicants provide an outline of their research proposal.
Stage 2: Submission of Selected Applicants' Full Proposals
Selected applicants who have scored 70% or more will be invited to submit full proposals. Specific information on the full proposal format and deadlines will be provided to selected applicants only. The invitation to submit a full proposal is not an indication that the proposal will be funded. Applications to the Letter of Intent must be completed using the application form found in the call for proposals. All sections of the application form must be fully completed or the applicants will be disqualified. The ministry will not be seeking any clarification of any missing or inaccurate information in an applicant's application form.
Applicants are required to use this electronic application form. Application forms not following the format (including the word limits) may be rejected.
Please send the application form as an attachment to BISGrantapplications@ontario.ca by the deadline October 4, 2013. The ministry will only accept electronically filled in application forms that are duly executed in writing by the required representatives of the applicant. Application forms that are handwritten will not be accepted.INDIRECT COSTS OF 25% MUST BE INCLUDED IN THE PROJECT BUDGET |

NOTE: All Letters of Intent and Full Applications must be processed through Research Development & Services for institutional approval. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. A ROLA Proposal (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean electronic approvals) is required for each submission. |
