Description: |
The National Contaminants Advisory Group (NCAG) provides science advice for DFO respecting the biological effects of contaminants on aquatic ecosystems. The scope of NCAG includes the biological effects of contaminants on fish, marine mammals and other aquatic species. A research fund is used to obtain information on priority contaminant issues for DFO from external researchers. Current priority topics are: Aquaculture therapeutants; Pesticides; Oil and gas-related contaminants; Contaminants and issues of emerging concern
The maximum DFO contribution per proposal per year is $75,000.00 for projects 2 to 3 years in duration and $100,000.00 for projects 1 year in duration. |

Application Details: |
Researchers from recognized Canadian post-secondary academic institutions and Canadian non-governmental not-for-profit research organizations are encouraged to apply for these funds. This funding supports research projects that will increase science-based knowledge of the biological effects of contaminants on aquatic species. Proposals must be submitted in Microsoft Word and Excel using the templates provided on the sponsor website.

NOTE: All Letters of Intent and Full Applications must be processed through Research Development & Services for institutional approval. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline.
