MITACS Accelerate PhD Fellowships are a new offering from MITACS designed for PhD students enrolled at Ontario universities to undertake industrially focused research projects while developing professional skills to enhance their non-academic career opportunities. Each award is tenable for a one-year term, and must begin by September 15th, 2010. The industrial partner must contribute $15,000 cash towards the award. Students must receive a minimum stipend of $30,000 annually with the balance of the award (up to $10,000) available to the supervisor to cover eligible research costs associated with the fellowship. The academic supervisor must be a professor at an Ontario University eligible to receive tri-council funding. MITACS Accelerate PhD Fellowship is open to PhD level graduate students in any academic discipline. To be eligible, students must, by September 15th, 2010:?Be registered as a PhD level graduate student and Have not held more than 1 MITACS Accelerate internship (4-month duration) during their doctoral studies |

Application Details: |
MITACS Accelerate PhD Fellowships are open to all graduate students enrolled in a PhD program at an Ontario university. Eligible industry partners must be for-profit companies with operations in Ontario with the ability to have the fellowship holder spend time on-site for a portion of the year. The partner will contribute $15,000 in cash towards this award (payable to MITACS). Applications must be submitted online. Online submissions will be accepted starting June 7, 2010. All documents must be submitted in PDF format. Applications that are not complete will not be considered. All awards will be made pending approval from the Office of Research Services at your university. The $15,000 of industry funds must be cash and sent to MITACS upon approval of the award. These funds cannot be leveraged by another provincial or federal organization.INDIRECT COSTS ARE NOT LEVIED ON THIS PROGRAM. |

NOTE: Letters of Intent and Full Applications are to be processed through Research Development Services for institutional signatures, and are to be accompanied by a completed RDAF form (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean signatures). Requests for Institutional signatures should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. |
