Description:

The Technology Exploitation and Networking (TEN) Program was established to promote technology developed by photonic research teams in Canada and to foster knowledge exchange within the CIPI Network and beyond. It is open to researchers working on photonics-related projects in Canadian universities. TEN competitions are held on a regular basis as determined by CIPI following a Call for proposals issued by the network's Administrative Centre to the photonics research community in Canada and posted on the CIPI website. The guidelines and application forms can be downloaded from the CIPI website. Forms and relevant application documents must be submitted by e-mail at the following address: cipi@cipi.ulaval.ca by the expiration of the announced deadline for a given competition.

To assist in the process of exploitation of a technology or ?know-how? developed in a CIPI-member university. Exploitation may consist of a variety of activities depending on the degree of "advancement? in the commercialization process. Funds cannot be used for work at an existing company in which the applicant has a significant financial interest (e.g. a start-up).

Application Details:

The applicant must already be or must become a member of CIPI. To become a member, the applicant must be a professor or adjunct professor in a CIPI member institution.

A faculty member eligible for NCE/NSERC grants at a CIPI-member university must complete and submit the application. There is no set maximum for this program, although recent approved applications have averaged about $75K. The grant could also include fee-for-service type agreements with the national facilities in the fabrication of prototypes.

INDIRECT COSTS ARE NOT LEVIED ON THIS PROGRAM.

NOTE: Letters of Intent and Full Applications are to be processed through Research Development Services for institutional signatures, and are to be accompanied by a completed RDAF form (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean signatures). Requests for Institutional signatures should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline.
