Description:

Funding for research programs in the field of health, safety and injury prevention; societal issues; materials and manufacturing; design processes; powertrains, fuels and emissions; and intelligent systems and sensors.

This call for proposals is open to all researchers eligible to receive support from the Canadian granting councils and is intended to expand AUTO21's research program by providing an opportunity for both existing AUTO21 researchers and new researchers to participate in the program. The Letter of Intent should not exceed four pages, excluding the budget and project leader?s CV. Prior to writing, the researchers may wish to contact AUTO21?s scientific director or the appropriate theme coordinator for guidance in the preparation of the submission. All projects must be endorsed by a member of the senior administration of the universities in which the project is to be conducted. Normally, a letter from the Vice-President of Research, or their designate, will suffice, but it is the responsibility of the applicants to ensure that the requisite approvals are secured.

Application Details:

The AUTO21 Network of Centres of Excellence invites projects from institutional research teams with strong industrial and/or public sector participation for research projects that address these four primary research objectives.

Those that demonstrate the strongest external support and the best fit with the Network?s objectives and current research priorities will be invited to submit full proposals. Applicants will be notified by July 8, 2011 and full proposals will be due not later than September 30, 2011. Proposals will be independently peer reviewed and those approved for funding by the AUTO21 Board of Directors will be notified by January 3, 2012 with funding to commence on April 1, 2012.

INDIRECT COSTS ARE NOT SUPPORTED BY THIS PROGRAM

NOTE: All Letters of Intent and Full Applications must be processed through Research Development & Services for institutional approval. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. A ROLA Proposal (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean electronic approvals) is required for each submission.
