The Collaborative Health Research Projects (CHRP) program is a joint initiative between the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR). The CHRP program supports innovative interdisciplinary collaborative research projects requiring participation from the natural sciences or engineering community together with the health sciences community. Proposed research projects must have a strong focus on knowledge translation (KT) and lead to health and economic benefits for Canadians, more effective health services and products, and/or a strengthened health care system. Funding for CHRP projects can be for up to three years for defined projects with clear milestones and decision points.

The application process for this funding opportunity is comprised of two steps: Letter of Intent and Application. Only applicants successful at the Letter of Intent phase are eligible to submit a full application. If your application is successful, a separate ROLA proposal will be required for the NSERC portion of the grant.

Application Details:

Both NSERC and CIHR criteria are used to determine eligibility for the CHRP Program. Application must include at least two Principal Applicants (including the Nominated Principal Applicant), one from the natural sciences or engineering community and one from the health sciences community. The Nominated Principal Applicant and the other Principal Applicants must qualify as an independent researcher.

Applications will be submitted to CIHR through its ResearchNet portal. More information about application requirements, how to apply, and deadlines can be found on the CIHR Web site. Your Application must be submitted using ResearchNet.
