Description:

In general, team grants support expert teams of talented and experienced researchers carrying out high-quality research on important health issues best addressed through a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach. These teams provide superior research training and mentorship environments, and support the production of new knowledge and the translation of research findings into improved health and health care.

This "Team Grant: Bone Health" is being offered to encourage and stimulate new and established investigators to undertake new, high priority research challenges in the field of bone health. A request for development funds: Applicants may request up to $10,000 to be used in the development of a full application. Submit a one page outline of the activities for which the development funds will be used plus a one-page budget description. IMHA has three research priority areas that align activities across our six foci: MSK rehabilitation, arthritis, bone, muscle, oral, and skin health. These priorities include: Physical activity, mobility and health; Tissue injury, repair, and replacement; Pain, disability, and chronic disease.These bone health teams will focus on at least one of these research priority areas. This competition is open to applications that address issues related to health and disease, health care and the health system. The maximum amount per grant is $500,000 per annum for up to 5 years. The equipment amount, where applicable, is awarded in year one.

Application Details:

The application process is comprised of two stages: Letter of Intent and Full Application. CIHR Team Grant proposals will be evaluated as a single, integrated entity. While each research component included in the application must be meritorious, it is critical to demonstrate that the CIHR Team Grant brings added value, in terms of the approach to improving the health of Canadians or strengthening the Canadian health care system.

Your Application will be submitted using ResearchNet. Scan and upload the signed signature pages including the routing slipin the Print/Upload Signature Pages task in ResearchNet prior to submitting your application. Selected applicants will be invited to submit a full application by the deadline date. Details of the application process will be available around mid-September 2011.

NOTE: Letters of Intent and Full Applications are to be processed through Research Development Services for institutional signatures, and are to be accompanied by a completed RDAF form (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean signatures). Requests for Institutional signatures should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline.
