The specific objectives of this funding opportunity are: Encourage Canadian investigators to develop novel tools and techniques, or novel applications of existing tools and techniques, to epigenetics research, Support epigenetic research projects that demonstrate unusual potential for 'breakthrough' or transformative advances, advances, through explicit encouragement of risk-taking grants through the adjudication process, Support research that has the potential to inform the activities of the CEEHRC Epigenomic Mapping Centres (EMCs).

Application Details:

Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) will not be considered through this program. For projects of a high risk nature, the potential for great scientific gain should offset the risk of failure. There should be minimal or no overlap with other funded work.

This Funding Opportunity will be participating in the eApproval process. This means that when the applicant submits their application it will be electronically directed to the Research Institution for review and approval. The eApproval process allows Administrators at a Research Institution to review and electronically approve applications for which the applicant has identified their institution as the Institution Paid. Once the applications are reviewed and approved by the Research Institution they will submit the applications electronically to CIHR on behalf of the applicant. When completing the application on ResearchNet, detailed instructions on the eApproval process are available in the "Electronic Approval tool for Research Institutions - Applicant's Guide" under the Project Details task.

INDIRECT COSTS ARE NOT LEVIED ON THIS PROGRAM.
