Description:

The CIHR Catalyst Grant program provides seed money, on a short-term basis, to support health research activities which represent a first step towards the pursuit of more comprehensive funding opportunities.

The aim of this funding opportunity is to provide a mechanism to support exploratory and blue-sky research projects with the potential for high impact, breakthrough and/or transformative advances in the field of preterm birth. IHDCYH will support projects that take a novel and untried approach towards advancing our knowledge and understanding of the causes and mechanisms of preterm birth, preventing preterm birth, and improving the outcomes of infants born preterm. To further stimulate original and potentially high-risk research, preterm birth researchers in the traditional fields of biomedical, clinical, health services, and population health research are encouraged to collaborate with partners working in non-traditional fields such as physics, imaging, mathematics, computing and nanotechnology. Applicants are also encouraged to secure partner funds.
