Subject Areas: Knowledge Translation, Health Services, Health Care, Knowledge Synthesis
Description:

CIHR's mandate is to excel, according to internationally accepted standards of scientific excellence, in the creation of new knowledge and its translation into improved health for Canadians, more effective health services and products and a strengthened Canadian health care system. The purpose of this funding opportunity is to support teams of researchers and knowledge users to produce knowledge syntheses and scoping reviews that will contribute to the use of synthesized evidence in decision-making and practice. Applications to synthesize knowledge in any of CIHR's four themes - biomedical; clinical; health services and policy; population and public health - are eligible provided that they respond to a knowledge user identified need. This funding opportunity will support two types of projects: knowledge syntheses and scoping reviews.

Expedited Knowledge Synthesis is a tool that accelerates all phases of synthesis production ? application, review, research, knowledge translation ? to offer timely, accessible and relevant evidence to decision makers. This funding opportunity will support teams of researchers to conduct an expedited knowledge synthesis related to the priority area of Evidence-Informed Healthcare Renewal. This targeted investment will support the use of synthesized evidence in decision-making by ministries of health as well as CIHR's Evidence-Informed Healthcare Renewal Working Group. This program also aims to increase linkages between researchers and knowledge-users. The specific objectives of this funding opportunity are to: provide ministries of health with high-quality, timely and accessible knowledge syntheses and workshops that respond to their decision making priorities relating to the financing, sustainability & governance of Canada's health care system.

Application Details:

Please see CIHR's website for more detailed information.

As part of the application, researchers are expected to position their proposed synthesis in relation to what already exists. To this end, a list of syntheses addressing health services and policy research topics (systematic reviews of the effects of governance, financial and delivery arrangements) is available. In addition, a list of all CIHR-funded syntheses is available in CIHR's Funded Research Database. These lists are not comprehensive or exhaustive. It is expected that researchers will consult these lists, as well as other sources, in order to build on but not duplicate existing syntheses. The application process for this funding opportunity is comprised of two steps: Registration and Application. ?Your Application will be submitted using ResearchNet. Scan and upload the signed signature pages including the routing slip in the Print/Upload Signature Pages task in ResearchNet prior to submitting your application

INDIRECT COSTS ARE NOT LEVIED ON THIS PROGRAM

NOTE: All Letters of Intent and Full Applications must be processed through Research Development & Services for institutional approval. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. A ROLA Proposal (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean electronic approvals) is required for each submission.
