Description:

CIHR's Caf? Scientifique program, created through the Youth and Public Outreach Unit of CIHR's Communications and Public Outreach Branch, is made up of informal events, not lectures between the general public and health research experts regarding a particular health-related issue of popular interest. CIHR's Caf? Scientifiques cover a wide range of topics, from nutrition to mental health at the workplace to air pollution. CIHR Caf? Scientifiques take place at a caf?, a pub or a restaurant and do not require that the participants have a science degree. The informal conversations about a particular health subject may provide answers to any questions that are on the minds of Canada's general population.

Applicant must submit a four page description (maximum) of the proposed Caf? that demonstrates how the event meets each evaluation criteria - refer to CIHR Caf? Scientifique Program Evaluation Criteria.

Application Details:

Encourage Canadians from all sectors of society to engage with health researchers, and contribute their views on current research and future directions. Promote knowledge sharing, the free flow of information and transparency between CIHR's health researcher community and members of the Canadian public. An organization can only submit one application. In the case of universities, individual departments can apply.

INDIRECT COSTS ARE NOT SUPPORTED BY THIS PROGRAM.

NOTE: All Letters of Intent and Full Applications must be processed through Research Development & Services for institutional approval. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. A ROLA Proposal (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean electronic approvals) is required for each submission.
