Description:

The purpose of this Applied Chairs program is to support mid-career faculty (5-15 years experience) who conduct reproductive, child and youth health services and policy research, are dedicated to working with decision makers to frame their research questions and interpret their results, and train and mentor students, fellows, junior faculty and others seeking career opportunities in this field, similarly committed to applied health services and policy research.

1.The application process for this funding opportunity is comprised of two steps: Registration and Application. 2.To complete your Registration, follow the instructions in the Grants ? Submission Requirements ?Your Application will be submitted using ResearchNet. Scan and upload the signed signature pages including the routing slip in the Print/Upload Signature Pages task in ResearchNet prior to submitting your application.

Application Details:

The maximum amount per award is $185,000 per year for up to five years: ?Salary contribution: $100,000 per year including fringe benefits. If the Chair?s salary exceeds this amount, all additional costs are to be borne by the host institution. If as a result of this Award, host-institution-controlled salary funds are freed up, then the host institution is required to reinvest this entire amount in the Chair Program by funding new graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and new investigators, to work under the mentorship of the Awarded Chair, so as to create a critical mass of researchers and research trainees in reproductive, child and youth health services and policy research at that institution. The institution is required to clearly stipulate that commitment in writing, both at the time of the application and at the time the Chair is awarded. The Institution must also indicate in writing that they will provide the successful Chair with the support they need, including at least 75% of working hours protected for research and research-related activities, i.e., a reduction of teaching, clinical, and administrative duties to a maximum of 25% time. ?Additional research, education, mentoring, travel and knowledge translation allowance: $85,000 per year.

Renewed CCV: A new version of the Canadian Common CV (CCV) will be available on June 19, 2012. Applications submitted on ResearchNet after 6:00 p.m. on June 19, 2012 will be required to use the renewed CCV. Although 90% of data for existing CCV users will be migrated to the new CCV, applicants are advised to plan for additional time to review their CV data and enter any additional information. The CCV will not be accessible from 7:00 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2012 ET to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2012 ET in order to complete the data migration to the new CCV. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Under the Tri-Agency Framework: Responsible Conduct of Research an applicant will be required to consent to the disclosure by the agencies of his/her personal information in the event of a serious breach of an agency policy. To implement this policy, additional text has been added to the signature pages found in the ?Print Upload Signature Pages? task and a mandatory section has been added to the ?Consent and Submit Application? task on ResearchNet. Effective November 17, 2011, Nominated Principal Applicants/Candidates must obtain consent and all required signatures on the updated signature pages before submitting their application.

INDIRECT COSTS ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO BE INCLUDED IN THE BUDGET

NOTE: All Letters of Intent and Full Applications must be processed through Research Development & Services for institutional approval. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. A ROLA Proposal (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean electronic approvals) is required for each submission.
