Description: |
The Early Researcher Award program (ERA) helps promising, recently-appointed Ontario researchers build their research teams of graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, research assistants and associates. Each award to a leading researcher is a maximum of $100,000 and must be matched by an additional $50,000 from the researcher?s institution and/or a private sector partner. The goal of the program is to improve Ontario's ability to attract and retain the best and brightest research talent. Researchers must be no more than 5 years from having started their independent academic research career, as of July 1, 2010 |

Application Details: |
A NOI must be submitted. The NOI that is is not binding and will not be assessed by the Ministry but it is a mandatory part of the application process. The Ministry of Research and Innovation (the Ministry) generally defines independent academic research appointment as a position where a researcher from an eligible institution is capable of independently publishing, supervising, and applying for funding. The Ministry of Research and Innovation requires institutional research offices to email a Notice of Intent (NoI) for each ERA applicant in MS Word format by 4:00pm Friday August 6, 2010. The NoI is not binding and will not be assessed by the Ministry but it is an important part of the application process.INDIRECT COSTS OF $40,000 MUST BE INCLUDED IN THE BUDGET |

NOTE: Letters of Intent and Full Applications are to be processed through Research Development Services for institutional signatures, and are to be accompanied by a completed RDAF form (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean signatures). Requests for Institutional signatures should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. |
