Deadline: Dean's: Contact your Faculty Research Office for deadline details.
Internal: Feb 02, 2011
Sponsor's: Feb 09, 2011

Subject Areas: Asthma
Description:

Senior Investigators will have well-established research programs and an international reputation for their research. They will usually hold a full-time academic appointment as Professor, Associate Professor, or the equivalent. Senior Investigators will receive US$250,000 per year for three years.

In supporting basic research, the Program seeks to break new ground. To this end, it is particularly interested in attracting investigators from outside the field to apply their expertise to the study of asthma. Prior research in asthma is not required. Investigators from within the field are eligible for awards, but they must demonstrate that their proposed work represents a departure from their current and past research. Because the Program seeks to develop new paths in asthma research, innovation and risk are strongly encouraged.

Application Details:

The proposed work should be directed towards uncovering basic mechanisms in the pathogenesis of asthma. The ultimate goal is to find new approaches to prevent, treat and cure asthma.

Applications must be received at the Program office no later than 5:00 PM, Pacific Standard Time on the deadline date in order to be considered. The next deadline is February 9, 2011. This deadline applies to the paper copies and the electronic submission. Applications must be submitted BOTH in paper copy to the AAF Research Program Office AND as a PDF at the AAF Research Program website (www.americanasthma.org/grants/upload-files) by Wednesday, February 9, 2011, 5:00PM, PST. Applications will not be accepted by fax or email. Submit the original plus 5 single-sided copies (total 6) of the required materials (items a.?i. above). Secure the original with a binder clip. The 5 copies should be stapled as individual packets (do not use binder clips or paper clips for the copies).

INDIRECT COSTS ARE NOT SUPPORTED BY THIS PROGRAM

NOTE: Letters of Intent and Full Applications are to be processed through Research Development Services for institutional signatures, and are to be accompanied by a completed RDAF form (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean signatures).
