The Core Funding Areas cover the full range of the Foundation?s activities and grantmaking. Science and the Big Questions is the largest of these Core Funding Areas and is further divided into several subfields. The descriptions and illustrative grants attached to the Core Funding Areas are not meant to be exhaustive, but they should give potential applicants a general understanding of the sorts of activities that the Foundation does and does not fund. Please see program guidelines for more information. The Online Funding Inquiry (OFI) is a brief form that asks for basic information about your proposed project. It is the required first stage of the Foundation's application process. If you are interested in receiving funding, or if you are trying to determine whether the Foundation would consider supporting your project, please complete and submit an OFI. |

Application Details: |
The John Templeton Foundation has two grantmaking cycles during the calendar year. During both cycles we accept Online Funding Inquiries related to our Core Funding Areas and our Funding Priorities. If the Foundation approves your Online Funding Inquiry, we will ask for a more detailed Full Proposal. Please note that Full Proposals are by invitation only. All grant applications must be completed and submitted electronically through the Templeton Portal. No applications will be accepted by mail or e-mail. Full Proposals are by invitation only, after a request has passed through the Online Funding Inquiry stage.INDIRECT COSTS OF 15% MUST BE INCLUDED IN THE PROJECT BUDGET |

NOTE: Letters of Intent and Full Applications are to be processed through Research Development Services for institutional signatures, and are to be accompanied by a completed RDAF form (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean signatures). Requests for Institutional signatures should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. |
