Description:

Novo Nordisk offers two types of research funding opportunities under the Novo Nordisk Diabetes Innovation Award Program: Early Exploration and Proof of Principle (PoP). The awards are reserved for nonclinical research only and support both new and established scientists exploring novel hypotheses in protein-based therapeutics and technologies for diabetes and obesity.

Research support for the validation of early stage innovations with enough supporting data to conclude on nonclinical PoP studies. Applicants have the option to apply for additional scientific support from Novo Nordisk that would provide access to our R&D sciences and facilities to conduct PoP studies.

Application Details:

Applicants must hold full-time faculty positions or the equivalent at accredited Universityaffiliated institutions or the equivalent within the United States or Canada. Applicants must hold a PhD, MD, PharmD degree or, for other professionals, the equivalent health, science or engineering related degree. Applicants must be United States citizens, Canadian citizens or possess permanent resident status in the United States or Canada.

Electronic applications must be submitted by 8:00 PM Eastern Time on August 1st 2012. Applications received after the deadline will be administratively disapproved. Applications must be e-mailed to the program office at diabetesinnovation@novonordisk.com stating the type of award being applied for in the subject line. Applicants must have the host institution's approval prior to submission, including a statement of commitment that adequate lab space and facilities will be made available for the conduct of the research proposal.

INDIRECT COSTS OF 40% MUST BE INCLUDED IN THE PROJECT BUDGET

NOTE: All Letters of Intent and Full Applications must be processed through Research Development & Services for institutional approval. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. A ROLA Proposal (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean electronic approvals) is required for each submission.
