Description:

The PSG program is part of Brain Canada's new Sponsored Opportunities stream. In this new funding stream, 50% of the grant amount recommended by the International Selection Committee will be provided by funding partners to Brain Canada, to be matched from the CBRF. The new Sponsored Opportunities are intended to assist research organizations, agencies, institutions, and individual donors who wish to build capacity and develop research excellence in neuroscience and in specific geographic areas.

There are specific Matching Funds Requirements for this program. Please contact Bryce Pickard (bpickard@uwo.ca) early in the process for full details. Eligible funding partners (Sponsors) include individual donors, charitable organizations, provincial government agencies and ministries, for-profit enterprises, research institutions, hospitals and health-care organizations. Matching contributions must be paid, in cash, to Brain Canada to trigger the CBRF match (in-kind contributions are not eligible).

Application Details:

This competition is open to User Groups of investigators working in the brain sciences. Members of the User Group must be eligible to receive funding from the federal granting agencies. The User Group may be based in one or several research institutions. One of the User Group Members will be designated the Lead User, nominated by the User Group to be the individual responsible for submitting the application on its behalf, for all communication with Brain Canada. The Lead User will normally be the individual responsible for overall management of the Platform, and if the Platform is a physical entity it will normally be located at the Lead User's institution.

Lead Users should contact Brain Canada (programs@braincanada.ca) with enquiries about the application process. All applications must be submitted using Brain Canada?s electronic grant management system. The system will be made available on the Brain Canada Website at least three weeks before the deadline date. Before 16.00 EDT on April 11th 2014, the Lead User must sign on to the Brain Canada electronic grant application submission portal and complete an application. Please see sponsor website for all submission requirements. Faculty from the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry who are applying to this program should be aware that the School will not provide matching funds for these applications.

INDIRECT COSTS ARE NOT ALLOWED

NOTE: All Letters of Intent and Full Applications must be processed through Research Development & Services for institutional approval. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. A ROLA Proposal (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean electronic approvals) is required for each submission.
