Description:

The purpose of this grant program is to drive research forward that will increase understanding of lung cancer, while ensuring that young investigators have the resources needed for them to succeed as lung cancer researchers. Basic, translational or clinical proposals are eligible for funding. Research that will lead to significant improvement in lung cancer prevention, detection, diagnosis, screening, treatment, and symptom management is sought.

A Primary Mentor at the applicant?s institution must oversee the applicant?s Career Development Plan. The Primary Mentor may only support one applicant per year. If the primary mentor is not a specialist in lung cancer research, there must a Secondary Mentor with such expertise. The Secondary Mentor may be at any institution.

Application Details:

At the time of application, an applicant must hold a doctoral degree (MD, PhD, DO, DrPH, or equivalent), and be a post-doctoral fellow or be in the first five years of their first faculty appointment at a not-for-profit institution in the United States or Canada. All applications must be submitted through our online grants portal.

The deadline for grant applications is 5:00 p.m. EST August 20, 2012. Late submissions will not be accepted. An online grant submission system, including detailed application instructions, will be available after July 16, 2012. Mailed or e-mailed applications will not be accepted; all applications must be submitted through the online system.

8% IDC MUST BE INCLUDED IN THE BUDGET

NOTE: All Letters of Intent and Full Applications must be processed through Research Development & Services for institutional approval. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. A ROLA Proposal (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean electronic approvals) is required for each submission.
