The mission of SIM-one is to advise and advocate for simulation in health professions education, expand and advance interprofessional education and, through the use of simulation, help to further improve the quality of patient care and patient safety. SIM-one will further position Ontario as the global leader in healthcare simulation.

Application Details: The goal of the SIM-one 2012 Grant Program is to promote research and innovation in simulation in healthcare within Ontario. This includes: The advancement of knowledge related to simulation-based education, skills training, interprofessional care, patient safety and/or quality of care. The enhancement of research & development capacity (including the development of human resources related to R&D) The development, operationalization or commercialization of novel simulation techniques and technologies. For the purpose of this grant, we define "simulation" as any activity that attempts to re-create some aspect of a healthcare encounter or process for the sake of education, assessment, research or quality improvement. This includes, but is not limited to, computer-based or e-simulation, virtual patients, task trainers, virtual worlds, virtual reality, high-fidelity simulation, role-play and standardized patients.Projects will be funded for a maximum of 24 months, commencing April 1, 2013. Funds are non-renewable. Any unused funds as of March 31, 2015 must be returned to SIM-one Please see sponsor guidelines for full details, including eligibilty information.
NOTE: All Letters of Intent and Full Applications must be processed through Research Development & Services for institutional approval. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. A ROLA Proposal (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean electronic approvals) is required for each submission.
