Description:

To advance practice, theory, education and research in the field of humanism in healthcare, The Gold Foundation is interested in supporting rigorous reviews of literature that: 1.Identify gaps in the current state of knowledge about humanistic healthcare and identify evidence-based practices and policies that could make a significant difference in patients? experience of care. 2.Use innovative methods to produce thoughtful syntheses and discussion of evidence relating to the practice or teaching of humanistic healthcare.

The Research Institute intends to award up to 10 grants. $5,000 will be awarded to the primary author: $2500 when the project begins and $2500 upon submission of the review. In addition, a travel allowance of up to $1000 will cover travel to present the study findings. Papers are expected to be submitted within 18 months from the time initial grant monies are received.

Application Details: At least one author must be a current faculty member at an accredited allopathic or osteopathic medical school, residency program, or other accredited institution of higher learning, in the USA or Canada.Proposals are due by 11:59pm ET on June 7, 2013. Proposals shall not exceed 600 words. Title, authors and references do not count toward word limit. You may include 1 table or figure. Proposals must be single-spaced, with minimum 1 inch margins and 11 point font. Maximum 1 table or figure. Convert document to PDF before sending. Each author must submit a two page abbreviated CV in PDF format. Within the 2 page limit, the CV may include a brief description of experience conducting this type of review/synthesis. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline.
