Genome Canada has partnered with the Canadian Institutes for Health Research (CIHR), the Cancer Stem Cell Consortium (CSCC) and Stand Up to Cancer (SU2C) Canada to support an integrated and cohesive pan-Canadian Cancer Stem Cell Dream Team. The successful Cancer Stem Cell Dream Team will focus their research on the role of cancer stem cells and stem cell programs on resistance and treatment failure in cancer, and will include genomic approaches central to their methodology. The Cancer Stem Cell Dream Team will bring together key stakeholders (including researchers, clinicians, industry, nongovernmental organizations and funders) to expedite delivery of research results to clinical practice and improve the outcomes of difficult to treat cancers.

This research funding opportunity is in support of one integrated and cohesive pan-Canadian Dream Team that will undertake cancer stem cell genomics research. The research proposal should focus on SU2C Canada Cancer Stem Cell Dream Team Research Funding Page 4 of 20 addressing the role of cancer stem cells and stem cell programs on resistance and treatment failure in cancer with the goal of improving the outcomes of hard-to-treat cancers and thereby impacting the health of cancer patients.

Application Details: Letters of Intent are due at 12pm EST on Monday, December 8th 2014 and must be submitted using the proposalCENTRAL website.Each top-ranked Team (at least two, and up to three, eligible and meritorious LOIs) will be invited to develop a full proposal through a workshop with stakeholders, end-users, and potential partners, including industry, industry associations, health-care administrators, and oncology practice guideline panels.
NOTE: All Letters of Intent and Full Applications must be processed through Research Development & Services for institutional approval. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. A ROLA Proposal (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean electronic approvals) is required for each submission.
