Description:

The CCS Atrial Fibrillation Research Award is an important and exciting CCS initiative developed to encourage clinical research in the field of Atrial Fibrillation (AF). The 2015 CCS AF Research Award will fund clinical, health services/systems, and population health research (see CIHR definitions for Themes II-IV research). Proposals for basic biomedical (Theme I) research will not be considered in this round.

Priority research areas for the 2015 edition of the CCS AF Research Award focus on advancing knowledge and practices in AF care, including the following: Improving diagnosis of AF; Managing AF and improving patient care; Preventing stroke in AF; Improving knowledge about and care for special populations with AF

Application Details:

For your application to be eligible: You must hold an MD, PhD or PharmD or equivalent degree. You must be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant with permanent residence in Canada. If your proposal is part of a larger research project, you must clearly identify the portion of the project that would be funded in its entirety by this award. You must not have received funding from another organization (e.g., academic/ research institution, federal or provincial government funding agency, charity or NGO, pharmaceutical company, other research funder) for the proposal being submitted. You must not be obtaining a drug supply from any pharmaceutical company. You must be affiliated with a Canadian academic or medical institution (e.g., hospital, university) and be committed to conducting the research in Canada.

Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. A ROLA Proposal (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean electronic approvals) is required for each submission.
