For the second year in a row, Western University has been named one of Canada's Top 100 Employers. The announcement of the Top 100 Employers for 2015 was made in a special section of the Globe and Mail, published November 4, 2014.
Western employs more than 13,000 people and receives more than 32,000 applications each year. The jobs available range from part-time jobs in food services that suit student employees, to professional positions allowing life-long opportunities for skills development and career growth.
Thousands of employers take part in each year’s application process. The project's distinguishing feature is that its editors, MediaCorp, publish detailed reasons, providing transparency in the selection of winners and practical guidance for job-seekers about exceptional workplaces. The competition is based on eight criteria - physical workspace, training and skills development, benefits, vacation and time off, work atmosphere and social activities, employee communications, performance management, and community involvement.
Western had a strong entry into the competition. Benefits, in particular were cited as important reasons why Western is a Top Employer.
"We are proud of the teaching, research, scholarship, and service that takes place at Western, and proud too of all who work together in pursuit of our vision to be a destination of choice for the world's brightest minds seeking the best learning experience", said Western President Amit Chakma.
"Western is a great place to work and study and we will endeavour to continue to attract and retain Canada's finest faculty and staff members."
