As the calendar turns to 2016, we have some exciting ITS news to share!

Over the past few months, ITS has been working through a strategic review of our departmental functions and objectives.   As a part of this process, we gathered input from various stakeholder groups from across Campus, as well as, from our own ITS staff members.   We have summarized the key results into a departmental strategy map that we will be using to guide our ongoing transformation over the next 5 years to 2020.

In this map, we have modernized our mission & vision statements to “provide exceptional technology solutions, resources, and services to support students, faculty, and staff within the Western Community” and to become “Western’s preferred technology partner, leveraging current and emerging technologies to inspire and advance extraordinary teaching, learning, and research outcomes”.

We have also identified the critical capacities, skills, and values that we will need to develop within the department to be able to deliver on our new mission, vision and outcomes. Communication, transparency, technology leadership and innovation are other prevalent themes you will find embedded in the strategy.

We are pleased and excited to start to share this strategy now with our partners and colleagues from across Campus, but we recognize this is only the start.   Critical next steps for us now will be to transform strategy into execution – to position and enable ITS to become a world class IT organization better capable of meeting the strategic objectives of Western.
