    Western Student Recreation Centre Closed Aug 25-29 for Student Staff Training

    The Western Student Recreation Centre will be closed next week for our annual leader and student staff training. Facilities including the WSRC will close on Sunday, August 24, 2025 at 5pm and reopen on Saturday, August 30 at 9:00am.     Campus Rec Temporarily Closed due to London Hydro Power Outage

    UPDATE: London Hydro power issues seem to have resolved as of 5:30pm. We anticipate opening with regular operating hours on Monday, August 11, 2025.     Western Campus Recreation is Changing the Game Through Belonging

    Western Campus Recreation is Changing the Game Through Belonging. Canada’s longest-running university Unified Basketball program is a model for inclusion, research and increased well-being. With Western's Unified Basketball program thriving, Special Olympics Ontario contacted Campus Recreation recently to present a new opportunity – a three-on-three (3x3) women's Unified Basketball tournament hosted by Special Olympics Indiana from August 4 to 7, 2025. Although the 3x3 format isn't part of local Special Olympics programming, Western worked with the organization to pull a team together. They are the only Canadian team participating in the international tournament.  (Read full entry)

    Lifesaving Society Ontario recognizes National Drowning Prevention Week from July 20-26 2025. This summer's theme, #safertogether emphasizes the importance of shared responsibility when it comes to water safety. Following drowning prevention tips is not an individual precaution, it is looking out for you and your peers and family in order to reduce risk. (Read full entry)

    Free Recreational Family Swims

    In honour of National Drowning Prevention Week July 20-26, we’re inviting families to join us for one of two FREE recreational swim times! Sunday, July 20 - 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM AND Wednesday, July 23 - 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM. Advanced registration is required, see links in article. Capacity is limited.     National Drowning Prevention Week Colouring Contest

    Help us spread the word about the importance of water safety during National Drowning Prevention Week July 20-26 by having your kids participate in our exciting Colouring Contest! Kids and teens can show off their creativity while learning about staying safe in and around the water. Prizes include goggles, a beach towel, and a Western t-shirt! Entries will be displayed at the Western Student Recreation Centre throughout the week, and winners will be announced at the end of National Drowning Prevention Week, and posted on the @Western_Rec Instagram page! (Read full entry)
