Western promotes the development of cross-cultural competencies through a vast range of courses that encompass international and intercultural learning. Select from more than 500 undergraduate courses offered by a number of departments at main campus and at Brescia, Huron and King's, that qualify under this category:

0.5 Western credit = 10 points

1.0 Western credit = 20 points

Please keep in mind, the course calendar changes each year and there may be new or changed courses which were not assessed at the time of the calendar audit (in particular, seminars and special topic courses). Therefore, if there are any courses you have completed or plan to complete that are not on the list of approved courses, but wish to be considered, please submit a claims form and contact International Learning. Some courses on the list below may no longer be offered.

Graduate and Professional Degree students are required to submit a claims form for each course they wish to claim.

  • Claims are subject to approval by International Learning. Submitting a claims form does not guarantee approval of credit for GIEH points. Please allow up to 3 weeks for assessment of your claim.
  • Language courses are not eligible for this Category as they are recognized in Category 4.
