Brain Canada along with Heart & Stroke and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research Institute of Circulatory and Respiratory Health (CIHR-ICRH), are excited to launch the Personnel Awards for Indigenous Scholars. Applicants must self-identify as Indigenous (i.e., individuals from First Nations, Inuit and/or M?tis communities whose traditional and ancestral territories are in Canada) and must either (a) be enrolled in a full-time Doctoral program at an eligible Canadian institution, (b) have applied for full-time admission to a Doctoral program at an eligible Canadian institution with a start date of no later than September 30,2025, or (c) are intending to reclassify from a Master?s to a Doctoral program at eligible Canadian institution with a start date of no later than September 30,2025. |

The objective of the competition is to increase the number of highly qualified Indigenous trainees from First Nations, Inuit or M?tis communities, whose traditional and ancestral territories are in Canada, committed to working in heart and/or brain research.Please review the guidelines for submission instructions

NOTE: All research-related grant applications, letters of intent, contracts and agreements requiring an institutional or organizational signature must submit related documents to the Office of Research Services for review and approval. Requests for institutional signature should be received a minimum of five to ten business days before the
posted Sponsor deadline. Please see Western Research's website regarding the institutional signatory process for more details. Specific opportunities may have their own timelines and requirements for submissions. A ROLA Proposal submitted by the PI and bearing department and faculty approvals is required. |
