Second Year
Students build upon their knowledge from first year and gain deeper insights and experience with family/community populations in the classroom, as well as through experiential learning via simulation and field work. Clinical judgment is applied and developed further through examining clients experiencing health challenges as well as examining barriers and facilitators to optimal health in individuals.
Students spend time in clinical simulation that mirrors a hospital environment, as well as an additional time in the laboratory setting learning more advanced techniques related to aseptic technique and medication administration. Introduction to health informatics, research methodologies, and evidence-informed practice in nursing are also emphasized throughout the year.
