Instant Theatre: a workshop with Théâtre L'On Donne

Description: This workshop offers an initiation in the universe of the theatre by using an activity called: instant theatre. We will work in small groups of 8-10 students; each one will rehearse the lines provided in an envelope, in order to create a unique show. At the end, each group will have its own performance in front of the other participants.

Théâtre instantané: un atelier du théâtre L'On Donne

Description: L'atelier présenté par le directeur du théâtre L'On Donne propose aux participants et aux participantes une initiation rapide au monde du spectacle au moyen d'une activité appelée: théâtre instantané. Nous formerons des groupes de 8 au 10 personnes, et chacune de ces petites troupes agencera à sa manières les mêmes 10 répliques qui lui seront distribuées dans une enveloppe afin de créer un spectacle unique. La séance se terminera par une petite représentation devant les autres participants et participantes de l'atelier.

Biography: Mario Longtin is associate professor at the Department of French Studies, Western University, since 2004. He specialised in medieval literature and history of the theatre. Mario Longtin is also the director of the L'On Donne theatre groupe, which had numerous performances: Le Vrai Monde by Michel Tremblay, Les Femmes savantes by Molière, Le Cid Maghané by Réjean Ducharme, Jupiter en famille by Jean Leclerc, Ubu roi by Alfred Jarry, Britannicus by Racine and Don Quichotte by Jean-Pierre Ronfard. In March of this year, the company will present Michel Tremblay’s newest play: L’Oratorio de Noël at the McManus Theatre.

Biographie: Mario Longtin est professeur agrégé au département d'études françaises de l'université Western Ontario depuis 2004. Il est médiéviste et historien du théâtre. Il dirige la troupe de théâtre L'On Donne du département d'études françaises depuis son arrivée à London. Il compte plusieurs spectacles à son actif: Le Vrai Monde de Michel Tremblay, Les Femmes savantes de Molière, Le Cid Maghané de Réjean Ducharme, Jupiter en famille de Jean Leclerc, Ubu roi d'Alfred Jarry, Britannicus de Racine et Don Quichotte de Jean-Pierre Ronfard. En mars de cette année, la troupe présentera au McManus Theatre la plus récente pièce de Michel Tremblay intitulée L’Oratorio de Noël.
