MMASc in Global Health Systems in Africa
The Master of Management of Applied Sciences (MMASc) Program in Global Health Systems in Africa (GHS-A) is a 12-month, comprehensive professional degree program that provides an environment for transdisciplinary and holistic approaches to becoming global leaders.
Thematic areas committed to combat poverty, hunger, disease, and environmental degradation while promoting the health and equality of those most vulnerable, such as women and children will be highlighted.
During this 12-month program, students will have the opportunity to discuss and propose solutions to issues in Global Health Systems in Africa while gaining the knowledge and skills to become a leader in this growing and dynamic field. This curriculum will bridge gaps between disciplines and provide students with organizational, leadership, and communication skills, enabling them to build successful careers.
Our MMASc program in GHS-A offers a unique opportunity for students to take core courses in communication and management (Organizational Behaviour, Fundamentals of Managerial Finance, Fundamentals of Marketing Management, Professional Communication, Professional Writing, Foundational Digital Communication for Professionals), as well as

Learning Outcomes
- By learning through diverse case studies built on groundbreaking research and techniques that address Global Health Systems in Africa issues, students will acquire a conceptual understanding and methodological competence.
- Students will develop the ability to engage in critical thinking and writing about the core questions that underlie scholarship in the field of Global Health Systems in Africa.
- Students will get a systematic understanding of knowledge and a critical awareness of the techniques used to analyze and interpret large datasets.
- Students will show an ability to plan a project to establish feasibility/evaluate processes/determine
relative importance of experimental parameters. On the basis of this competence, the student will show originality in the application of knowledge to develop and apply innovative solutions. - An understanding of the knowledge and a critical awareness of the diverse challenges facing certain regions of Africa will be developed as well as the tools and techniques to bridge research to
policy within existing governance structures.

Practicum: students are required to participate in a summer Practicum. If extenuating circumstances preclude a student from participation, an alternate means to fulfil the course credit through a Major Research Project can be considered. The request to pursue the alternate course must be submitted in writing to the Program Director explaining the extenuating circumstances. Students who pursue Major Research Projects are responsible for formulating the project and finding a faculty member who is willing to supervise them over the summer term.
Progression Requirements: progress through the MMASc requires the maintenance of a minimum cumulative average of 70%, with no course mark below 60%.
