BJ Cunningham is an Assistant Professor in the School of Communication Sciences and Disorders. She is also a Scientist at CanChild (www.canchild.ca) and Associate Scientist at the Children’s Health Research Institute (https://childhealth.ca/childrens-health-research-institute/). Dr. Cunningham completed a PhD in Rehabilitation Science at McMaster University under the supervision of Dr. Peter Rosenbaum, and a postdoctoral fellowship at Western under the supervision of Dr. Janis Cardy. Her research is focused on engaging clinicians and families to develop, evaluate, and optimize clinical tools and assessment and intervention services for children and families. This includes practice-based research and integrated knowledge translation to increase the relevance and usefulness of research for practice. Prior to beginning her work in academia, Dr. Cunningham worked as a speech-language pathologist in the Ontario Preschool Speech and Language Program for over 10 years, providing assessment and intervention services for hundreds of preschool children and their families.
